30 STRONG Prayers Against Bad Dreams

It is true that dreams are a mysterious part of our lives. When we dream, it could leave us with peace of mind, but other times, it can fill us with confusion and fear. This is why we will say this prayer against bad dreams. The Bible speaks about dreams in different ways, usually about them carrying messages from God or as a battlefield of spiritual attacks.

Job 33:15-16 says, “In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds, He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings.” God can use dreams to tell us truths, but it can sometimes bring fear.

There are many stories in Scripture centered around dreams. One of the most famous is Joseph, the son of Jacob. His life was ‘dreams’—both the ones he dreamed and the ones he interpreted for others. His own dreams foretold the future, and also stirred up jealousy and trouble. Yet, Joseph believed in God through it all, and in the end, the dreams came true.

Unfortunately, not all dreams are from God. Sometimes, they are attacks meant to bring fear, doubt, or confusion. In 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” This is to say that fear is not from God, and we must resist it, especially when it comes in the form of dreams. Bad dreams can cause a spirit of fear to rise within, and make us restless.

Imagine waking up in the middle of the night due to a terrifying dream that makes it hard to fall back asleep. In moments like these, we have to call on the name of Jesus, who has the power to drive out every fear. Our dreams, just like our waking life, are under God’s control. When we rest in His promises, we can find peace, even in the middle of spiritual attacks.

This is why we WILL turn to God in prayer, AND take authority over our dreams.

Prayer Against Bad Dreams

1. Lord, I surrender my mind to You; cleanse it from all thoughts that invite bad dreams.

Lord, as I prepare for sleep, I ask that You take control of my mind. Cleanse it from every thought that could lead to bad dreams or disturbances. Just as Philippians 4:8 reminds me to think on what is true and pure, let my mind rest in You. Amen.

2. Father, protect me from every evil attack that comes through dreams.

I seek Your protection over my sleep. As it says in Psalm 91:5, I will not fear the terror of the night because I know You are with me.

Shield me from any evil attacks that come in the form of dreams. Let no weapon formed against me prosper, even while I sleep. Surround me with Your angels and let my rest be peaceful. When the enemy tries to invade my dreams, I declare that Your strength and power will turn back every attack. Keep me safe in Your care, Father. Amen.

3. I cover my sleep with the blood of Jesus, and I declare peace over my night.

4. In the name of Jesus, I reject every spirit of fear that tries to enter through my dreams.
