Let’s bring the Bible into this. In Numbers 22:1-14, Balaam was hired by Balak, the king of Moab, to curse the Israelites. However, every time Balaam tried to curse them, God turned the curse into a blessing. This is God’s power in play to bless His people, even in the face of opposition. Despite Balaam’s intentions to curse the Israelites, God used the situation to declare blessings over them instead. This is a testament to God’s character and His desire to bless anyone who trusts in Him.
Let this be a reminder to you that God is always going to release blessings. It doesn’t matter if circumstances seem to be against us. Through prayer, we can tap into God’s power and grace and break any curses or negative patterns in our lives.
Prayer for Breaking Curses and Releasing Blessings
Before we pray, make sure you are in your room alone, or anywhere quiet. Let’s call on God together to break any curses and bless you immediately.
1. Prayer to be Committed to Obedience
Dear Heavenly Father,
I stand before you today because I am ready for your service. I want to be free from any thing that may be holding me back. I want to start serving you fully as I present my body and mind to you as instruments of righteousness. I am ready to be used for your glory, oh Lord. I make a commitment to spend my time focusing on prayer and reading your Word. I hereby renounce any ungodly habits. I renounce any desires that hold me captive in the past, and choose to walk in freedom. Please, empower me to do so.
Help me to be obedient to your leading. Show me your face in all that I do. I desire to be a vessel for your use. I ask that you cleanse me from any unrighteousness. I want to do away with anything that may be holding me back from being noticed in your presence.
As I pray, father, may you will help me remain committed to this path of obedience. I know that you will be my strength. I know that I will overcome obstacles and stay committed to You.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
2. Help me to Repent of my Sins that Hold me Back
Our Father,
I know and admit that I’m a sinner. But right now, I’m willing to let go, break away from the chains of sin, and repent. I have acknowledged that unrepented sins can give legal rights to demonic forces in my life. I desire to be free because your word says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28. It is also written in Mark 8:34-35 that “For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.”
I bring before you any sin that you highlight to me. I repent of such sins. I also ask for your forgiveness and cleansing so I may be free of any curses. Today, I renounce any agreement I may have made with the enemy, and I ask that you break any curses placed upon me.
Dear God, I know you’ll grant me your grace, and I ask that you release me from any oppression. Help me to walk in freedom. Help me to serve you and you alone. I Also pray that you will help me to stay humble and courageous to confront any sin holding me back.
Amen.
3. Oh Heavens, Reveal to Me the Scriptural Foundation for Freedom
Dear Heavenly Father,
I need understanding—that of the scriptural foundation for my freedom. Ephesians 1:7, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” I acknowledge that Christ has paid for my life to be redeemed. Of course, I am no longer owned by the enemy. Of course, I am grateful for the sacrifice of Jesus. I believe it has made me free. I build my faith on the truth that You have delivered me from the power of darkness and conveyed me into the kingdom of the Son of Your love.
Father, as I confess that Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law, let the blessing of Abraham come upon me in Christ Jesus. I believe that You have defeated the enemy on the cross, and I require faith to see it manifest in my life.
Help me to confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believe that You have raised Him from the dead. I believe in what Jesus has already done for me, and I receive my deliverance.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
4. Prayer to Confess Your Faith in Christ Jesus
Father in Heaven,
Jesus Christ has come in the flesh and is of God, I know. In 1 John 4:2-3, “This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.” I do not believe that He is just another prophet or a good teacher, but my personal Lord and Savior. I confess that You are the one who has redeemed me, forgiven me, and set me free. I believe in the sacrifice of Jesus, which has made me free from the power of darkness. I receive Your redemption, forgiveness, and freedom, and I confess that You are my Lord and Savior.
Oh Lord, help me to walk in this freedom. As I confess my faith in You, I pray that You help me to stay grounded in Your Word.
Amen.
5. Heavens Should Purge Me of Unforgiveness
Dear God,
It is written in Ephesians 4:27, “And do not give the devil a foothold” to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harboring resentment, or cultivating bitterness. I realize that holding on to bitterness and unforgiveness gives access to the enemy to keep me bound. Lord, I choose to forgive those who have hurt me, not justifying their actions but releasing the hold they have on my life. I understand that my freedom is more important than my feelings. I release any bitterness, unforgiveness, and offense, and I choose to walk in forgiveness.
Help me examine my heart and release anything I am harboring. I want to be free from bondage and curses, and I know that forgiveness is the key, so I pray that you help me walk in forgiveness. Help me remember that my freedom is much more important than my feelings.
Amen.
6. A Prayer Renouncing My Contact with Demonic Vows, Ceremonies, Blood Covenants, and False Gods
Dear Heavenly Father,
I understand that I have given the devil a right to my life through these practices, but I now renounce them and break off any right he has over me. I cancel any demonic vows, ceremonies, blood covenants, and false gods I may have attracted into my life. I renounce all involvement with the occult, false idols, demonic ceremonies, and any other practices that have given the enemy a hold on my life. I choose to walk in the truth and to commend myself to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
Help me to walk in freedom from the devil. I have seen that in James 4:7, I only have to “Submit [myself] therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from [me].” Please, remember that I have renounced these practices. Now, I pray that you will help me to stay grounded in Your Word and to always resist the enemy’s attempts to bring me back into bondage.
I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
7. Dear God, I’m Here to Confess God’s Promise
Dear Father,
Your Word shall not depart from my mouth for it is written, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein….” Therefore, I shall meditate in it day and night, that I may observe to do according to all that is written in it (Joshua 1:8).
You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. I declare that I am healed by the stripes of Jesus, and in times of uncertainty, I say that I will not fear, for you are with me, and you will strengthen me and help me, and uphold me with your righteous right hand.
Help me to meditate on your Word day and night. Help me to always declare your promises over my life. As I pray, may you help me to stay grounded in your Word.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
8. Prayer to Remove Accursed Objects and Release Myself in Jesus’ Name
Oh Lord,
I realize that I may have unknowingly brought accursed objects into my life. Right now, I desire to be free from their influence. In Deuteronomy 7:26, your word say:
Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.
I hereby utterly detest and abhor anything that is an accursed thing. I pray that you would reveal to me any objects or items in my possession that may be connected to the occult or Satan. Help me to identify and remove them from my life because I want to be free.
As I go through my house and rid myself of these items, please purify my home as well as my heart. Let your holy presence fill every corner of my life. Let your blessing rest upon me. In the authority given to me by Luke 10:19, I trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. I declare that nothing shall by any means hurt me, for I am a child of the Most High God.
I release myself from any curse, in Jesus’ name. I break every generational curse and declare that I am free to serve you, oh God, without any hindrance or obstacle.
Thank you, Lord, for your deliverance and freedom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
9. I Declare the Blessing of Abraham Upon My Life
Our Heavenly King,
I come before you today, declaring the blessing of Abraham upon my life. “That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” – Galatians 3:14. Now, I declare that I am a child of Abraham, and I expect the blessing of Abraham to manifest in my life. I expect to sleep through the night, and to receive good medical reports. I expect things to change in my life, and I believe that your promises are yes and amen.
Help me to change my expectations, and to always believe in the words that I speak. I pray that you will help me to stay grounded in your Word and to always expect miracles.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Oh Heavenly Father, may our prayer be answered, and may we receive your blessings in multiple folds. Amen!
