Prayer for Lost Pet to Come Home Safely

God holds the earth in the palm of his hand, and its inhabitants, including our pets such as cats and dogs, are like grasshoppers to him. If yours has gone missing, lost, and can’t be found, God knows where this beautiful soul is, and will help it retrace its steps back home. Even Jacob prayed fervently for his son Joseph, whom he believed was devoured by a wild animal (Genesis 37:33-35). But Joseph was actually alive and well, and both men were eventually reunited.

Jacob prayed for his lost son, so we too are going to bring our concerns of a lost pet to God. God will keep the animal safe wherever it is, and guide its steps back home or make it very easy for us to discover its location.

Prayer for Good News as I Contact My Local Shelters and Veterinary Offices

Dear God,

Often when people find a wandering animal, they drop them off at a nearby rescue, shelter, or veterinary office. I too pray that as I contact local shelters and veterinary offices, You will guide and lead me to a good news about my missing cat (or dog). Just as the shepherd searches for the lost sheep and rejoices when it is found (Luke 15:6), my prayer is that I may be reunited with my beloved pet soon.

Help me to be persistent in this search, and may Your grace and mercy be upon me and my pet. I will check with local shelters and rescues, and if possible, visit them in person. I believe in Your guidance to take the lead. In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Amen.

May Internet Have Good News About My Missing Cat

Heavenly Father,

I will be using online platforms such as NextDoor, lost and found Facebook groups, Finding Rover, Pawboost, and Craigslist to spread the word about my missing pet. Please, may the social media have good news about my animal. Guide me to the right connections as I search for my lost pet.

I know that You are always with us, even to the end of the age, as in Matthew 28:20, therefore, I pray for Your presence with me while I search for my pet online.

Let Your care surround me and my pet. Please, bring us back together soon. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Help My Local Animal Control and Police Find [Pet Name]

Oh, Father,

When I reach out to my local animal control and police to help find my missing pet, I need your intervention for me to receive good news. I will call the non-emergency number for my local police department and believe that they will work closely with the animal control agency to lend their help. It is written that “the Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18), and I am calling You to guide the efforts of the animal control and police as they search for my pet.

Amen.

May I Find Her in the Neighborhood Where She Was Last Seen

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I search the neighborhood where my pet was last seen, I pray that You lead my footsteps to her. I will call her name, look in places where she could get trapped or hide, and search by day and night. Father, stay with me during this search so I don’t lose my lovely pet for too long.

You said, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). I am positive that Your plans for my pet and me are for good, and that You prosper our reunion.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Oh Lord, Let the Old-School Flyers I’ll Print Lead to My Pet

My poor animal is panicking as it can’t find me. Please, help us reunite. I have learned that Most lost pets are found nearby during a neighborhood search. This is why I will be printing flyers with a full-color photo of my cat, a detailed description, my phone number, and email address, when and where he was last seen, and instructions to call me if spotted. My pet may run from strangers, so please Father, let those who her notify me of retrieval.

I will tape these flyers on telephone poles, at local parks, coffee shops, nearby veterinarian offices, and in community center common areas.

Oh Lord, let the old-school flyers I’ll print lead to my pet, and may Your grace and mercy be upon me and my pet. Paul wrote, “… we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28), I pray that Your goodness be evident in the outcome of my search. Amen.

A Prayer for the Items I Put Outside to Remind My Pet of Home

Heavenly Father,

I will place my pet’s favorite bed outside, along with their food and water, and even some of my worn socks, strongly believing that their strong sense of smell will lead them back home. For my missing cat, I will put their dirty litter box outside and some strong-smelling wet food like canned tuna, hoping to entice them to return. I pray that You guide my pet back to me and satisfy their desire for home and comfort.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer for the Safety of My Animal Out There

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray for the safety of my fur friend out there, trusting that You are always with them, even in uncertain and unknown circumstances. Do coyotes snatch up small dogs? Unfortunately, yes. But I pray that You protect my own from harm and keep it safe from predators. The Psalmist wrote, “The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore” (Psalm 121:7-8). I pray for You to keep mine safe and healthy, and bring her back to me soon.

Amen.

Make My Precious Animal Come Back Home on Its Own!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Over 90% of missing indoor cats don’t venture beyond a five-house radius according to what experts have to say. It is said that a vast majority of lost pets are found, usually within 24 hours, but reunions after days, weeks or months. I pray that my precious animal comes back home on its own within a day, especially when it is hungry.

May Your goodness and love be evident in the outcome of my search, and that my pet returns home safely and soon.

Amen.

May the Lord answer this prayer, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

When you find your pet, make sure to get her chipped and wear it a collar with an ID tag to make it easier to be found and brought home safely next time.
