You already know that prayers are part of the Christian faith and a communication channel with God. We could render them to offer thanks, seek guidance, or remember His goodness. And it also reminds us of His never-ending grace and mercy.

Prayers of Remembrance and Thanksgiving
We have divided this into three sections, one for remembrance and another for thanksgiving. In the third section, we combined both remembrance and thanksgiving – it’s the best we could do for you.

Section 1: Prayers of Remembrance

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your abundant blessings. We give thanks with a grateful heart for You have given us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). Thank You for providing for our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Thank You for the blessings that we often take for granted: our families, friends, health, and the love You so freely give us. We are thankful, Lord.

Father, we thank You for Your grace that is sufficient for us. Even when we fall short, Your grace covers us. We are so grateful for Your gift of grace, that through Jesus Christ, we are saved by faith and not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Section 3: Combining prayers of remembrance and thanksgiving
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts full of remembrance and thanksgiving. We remember Your great love for us, a love so vast and profound that You sent Your only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins (John 3:16). We remember His life, His sacrifice, and His resurrection. His victory over death stands as a symbol of Your power and grace, and it offers us hope for an eternity with You.
For Your grace, we give thanks. Your grace is immeasurable, covering us in our darkest moments, providing us with redemption and the gift of salvation. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9). For this grace that saves us, we are forever grateful.
We remember Your promises, Lord. Promises that give us hope and peace. You promised to be with us always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). You promised that You have plans for our welfare, not for disaster, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). You assured us that if we seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, all other things will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33).
For these promises and Your faithfulness in keeping them, we offer our thanksgiving. We are thankful that You are a God who keeps His promises. You are not a man that You should lie (Numbers 23:19), and this truth gives us confidence in all the promises You have made to us.
As we remember Your acts of love and mercy and express our gratitude, we are drawn closer to You. We are reminded of Your character – a Father who is full of love, kindness, and generosity. Your past actions assure us of Your future faithfulness. And for this, we are truly thankful.

How to render remembrance and thanksgiving prayers
1. Begin with Praise
Start your prayer by acknowledging God for who He is. Praise Him for His attributes such as His love, His mercy, His faithfulness, His power, His wisdom, and so on. This helps you center your heart and mind on God, setting the stage for the rest of your prayer.
2. Remember God’s Deeds and Promises
In prayers of remembrance, recall God’s past actions in the Bible, in your life, and in the lives of those around you.
Remember His promises found in Scripture. You might think about His salvation, protection, provision, forgiveness, or other ways He’s shown His love and faithfulness.
For example, you can pray:
Lord, I remember how You delivered the Israelites from Egypt and parted the Red Sea for them. I remember Your promise that You will never leave me nor forsake me.
3. Express Your Thanksgiving
This is the moment to express your gratitude. Thank God for His many blessings. This might include thanksgiving for your health, your family, His provision, or His guidance.
Be specific and heartfelt. Remember, you are not only thanking God for material blessings but also spiritual blessings such as peace, joy, love, faith, and the gift of salvation in Jesus Christ.
4. Reflect on the Significance
Take a moment to reflect on the significance of what you’ve remembered and the depth of your gratitude. Let this reflection inform the tone and content of your prayer.
5. Make Your Requests
Feel free to make your requests known to God after your prayer of remembrance and thanksgiving. He loves to hear from His children and is always ready to listen to our needs and desires.
6. Close in Jesus’ Name
Close your prayer in the name of Jesus. This is a common practice in Christian prayer, based on Jesus’ teaching in John 14:13-14.
