If you need a job within 24 hours, remember the story of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:10. He asked God to change his life permanently, and God did. Jabez means “born in pain” but he was determined to break free from it. He faithfully prayed, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I may not cause pain.” God answered Jabez’s prayer by blessing him abundantly. Go made sure he would not cause pain to others, and that he was fulfilled.

He can do the same for you in need of a permanent job in one day. However, God works mysteriously, so it may not be exactly in 24 hours—it could be shorter or a bit longer but God will prioritize making sure that you get hired by the best job that won’t cause you headaches.

Prayer to Get a Permanent Job Within 24 Hours

It’s possible to receive that call from the employer within 24 hours if God wishes. But then, we will pray a very specific prayer that will tell God your preparations and why this job matters so much to your situation.

1. A prayer to Submit for the right job

Heavenly Father,

I have decided to go on a job search. Please, help me to focus on quality jobs over quantities. I pray to be able to target the right jobs that suit my skills as well as my passion. In Colossians 3:23, the Bible says “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.” Therefore, it is to you, oh Lord, I pray that I would work diligently, even in this job search.

Please, help me to research and understand each company. Let my applications reflect my faith and integrity, and stand out to recruiters and hiring managers.

I pray for your grace. The eyes of those who review my applications should see how I can contribute to the organization. May Your will be done in my career.

2. Prayer to avoid wasting my time on job scams

Dear God,

There are many fake jobs out there that will end up wasting my time. I hereby come to you for guidance. In the book of Proverbs 22:3, it says “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” My prayer is for me to be cautious in my job search online or offline.

Help me to avoid wasting my time on job scams. I need the patience to research companies and only apply to jobs on reputable websites. I trust in Your sovereignty, and I pray that You would lead me to a permanent job in the next 24 hours, in Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

3. Help me tailor my resume and cover letters

“Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.” (Proverbs 22:29)

Almighty God,

How great thou art? Here I am before you. My prayer is asking you for Your help to craft my resume and cover letters for each job application.

Please, make my skills and experience shine through in my applications. I want to stand out as a strong candidate because I really need this job to take care of my situation, and to bring Glory to your name. Please give me creativity as I write my cover letters. Let me be able to express my enthusiasm and show passion for each role.

Father Lord, let my resume be a testament to my hard work and dedication. Let me grab the attention of recruiters and hiring managers. And let me be able to discuss how I can contribute to the organization when given the opportunity.

I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

4. Prepare me to be well Organized with my application

Dear Heavenly Father,

It even says in Luke 14:28, “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?” I now understand that without organizing myself, I can’t go far with my aim of landing a job in the next few hours. This is why I come to you, Lord. To help me be intentional in my job applications, and to work with heavenly strategies.

As I will submit my applications, help me to prepare for my  interviews. I also want to be able to follow up with confidence and friendliness. May I not come across as pushy or desperate before this company. Dear God, I pray for Your grace and favor. Let the hiring managers see something in me that can contribute to this company.

May my job search be a testament to my faith. May I bring glory to You. Please, answer my prayer.

5. Prayer to be 100% ready for any Interview

Father in Heaven,

Let me begin this prayer with Your word. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15). I pray that I will be thoroughly prepared to show my skills, backed with my experience. I want to be able to align my answers to each job, and highlight how I can solve problems.

I need your divine wisdom to research and practice answering common interview questions. I want to be able to shine with confidence during each interview. Let the interviewer see me as an enthusiast in all the words I utter.

May Your blessing be upon my words and actions. May I trust in Your sovereignty and provision. I pray in Jesus’ name.

6. Heavenly support for me to have a flexible mindset

Dear God,

I may think that I have the mindset that can fetch me this job in 24 hours. But one thing I know better is that without your touch, I’m not close to my best. Doesn’t it say in Proverbs 16:9, “in their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps”? This is why my prayer is that I would be able to adjust my parameters in your grace.

Even if this would mean engaging in part-time, freelance, or temporary work, help me to see the value and be open to exploring different industries and roles. Give me the grace to trust in Your provision and timing, even when my original plans don’t work.

I pray that you help me find a permanent job, particularly one that suits my skills. In Jesus’ name.

7. Prayer for help with responsive references

Our Father,

It says in Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” This word of yours has really touched me to believe that I need people and your grace when picking references. I know many people who might be willing to be my references but I need Your help with finding those who will be responsive and able to speak positively for me.

Help me to pick reliable references. Help me to communicate well with them, and to ensure their responsiveness.

Of course, I need your wisdom in selecting the right people. Their testimonials should open doors for me to be employed by this new job.

8. Prayer to help me receive congratulations from this job

King of Kings,

As I am done with this job application, my heart aches for good news. I really need this job to help my situation and take care of those who look up to me. This is why I am praying to you that my communication with the hiring manager would be gracious, thoughtful, and timely. I am backing this request with your biblical teaching in Colossians 4:6, “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

I need your help to receive a ‘Congratulations’ message within 24 hours of our conversation.

If I need to send a follow-up message, give me the patience to wait until the timeline they have provided. Help me to also avoid overwhelming them with excessive contact. I trust in Your timing, for I know that You are working everything out for my good.
